29.12.2022 | On 29 December 2022, the President of the Republic approved the Act on the National Implementation of the Brexit Adjustment Reserve. Funds from the Reserve will be used to support companies that have been negatively affected by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. The support is channelled as business development aid from the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres). 

21.4.2022 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment requests comments on the draft legislative proposal that would implement the EU’s Brexit adjustment reserve. Companies affected negatively by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU would be supported from the reserve. The Act is necessary for the utilisation of the funding reserved for Finland.

4.2.2021 | The Government has adopted a favourable position on the European Commission’s proposal on a Brexit adjustment reserve. The aid distributed from the reserve would help counter the negative impact of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, especially in the Member States, regions and sectors worst affected by it.

31.12.2020 | The UK’s withdrawal from the EU will be complete on 1 January 2021. The Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the complementary agreements on security of classified information and nuclear cooperation, which were agreed by the EU Commission and the UK on 24 December 2020, will be applied provisionally from the beginning of the year. The agreements have not yet been ratified but the provisional application of the agreements prevents the UK’s withdrawal from the Union without a deal.

8.12.2020 | The main themes of the videoconference of Ministers for European Affairs on 8 December were the preparations for the forthcoming European Council and a progress report on the negotiations on the future relationship between the EU and the UK. Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen represented Finland at the meeting.

7.2.2019 | UK citizens’ right of residence in Finland will continue for a fixed term under a special act. The act is being prepared for the eventuality of a no-deal Brexit in which the UK withdraws from the EU without an agreement at the end of March. The Government submitted a proposal on the special act to Parliament on 7 February.

16.1.2019 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, together with other authorities and actors, has prepared for the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union (or Brexit). In a vote held on 15 January, the British Parliament rejected the UK withdrawal agreement from the European Union. The result of the vote does not mean an immediate withdrawal without any agreement. Further plans of the United Kingdom are expected to be announced within the next few days.

25.1.2019 | On 25 January, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs supported the Ministry of the Interior’s proposal to draft a special act to continue, for a fixed term, UK citizens’ right of residence in Finland. The act is being prepared for the eventuality of a no-deal Brexit, where the UK withdraws from the EU without an agreement at the end of March.

Medel ur reserven ska användas för att stödja företag som har upplevt negativa konsekvenser av Storbritanniens utträde ur EU. Stödet kanaliseras som understöd för utvecklande av företag och beviljas av närings-, trafik- och miljöcentralerna.

4.2.2021 | Valtioneuvosto on vahvistanut myönteisen kannan Euroopan komission ehdotukseen Brexit-mukautusvarauksesta. Varauksesta annettaisiin tukea haitallisten vaikutusten torjumiseksi erityisesti niille jäsenvaltioille, alueille ja toimialoille, joihin Britannian EU:sta eroaminen vaikuttaa pahimmin.

9.12.2020 | Iso-Britannia ottaa käyttöön uusia eurooppalaisia sairaanhoitokortteja EU-eron myötä. Uusia kortteja on kahdenlaisia. Niitä käyttävillä henkilöillä on oikeus saada lääketieteellisesti välttämätöntä hoitoa Suomessa samoilla asiakasmaksuilla kuin kunnan asukkaat. Kortit tulevat käyttöön 1.1.2021.

Medel ur reserven ska användas för att stödja företag som har upplevt negativa konsekvenser av Storbritanniens utträde ur EU. Lagen är nödvändig för att den finansiering som reserverats för Finland ska kunna utnyttjas.

9.12.2020 | Storbritannien tar i bruk nya europeiska sjukvårdskort i och med utträdet ur EU. Det finns två olika slags kort. De personer som använder dem har rätt att få medicinskt nödvändig vård i Finland för samma kundavgifter som de övriga kommuninvånarna. Korten tas i bruk den 1 januari 2021.
