  2. 17.9.2025 | Finland and Norway held a preparedness exercise on 15–16 September to prepare for serious accidents, crises and emergencies. The exercise entailed Finland sending medicinal products and medical supplies to Norway in a fictitious crisis scenario. The exercise was related to the EU’s shared emergency stockpiles, known as rescEU stockpiles, some of which are located in Finland.

  7. 11.3.2026 | Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communications published a Joint Nordic Strategy for Transport System Preparedness on 11 March 2026. The strategy was handed over to the Nordic transport ministers in Rovaniemi where the ministers also issued a joint statement. As part of their meeting, the ministers will also visit the multinational Cold Response 26 military exercise in Lapland on 12 March 2026.

  8. 18.12.2025 | Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala and Estonia’s Minister of Energy and the Environment Anders Sutt discussed future opportunities for Finnish-Estonian energy cooperation in Helsinki on 18 December 2025. The countries have so far had successful collaboration on developing the transmission networks for electricity and gas, protecting critical infrastructure and creating a common electricity market.

  13. 24.7.2026 | Finland has sent material assistance to Ukraine from the EU-funded rescEU emergency stockpile for the sixth time. The shipment from Finland included supplies against chemical, biological and radiological threats as well as personal protective equipment, among other supplies. The total value of the shipment is about EUR 1.7 million.

  15. 4.5.2022 | In a written procedure on 4 May 2022, the Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy decided that regional development funds allocated in 2022 to cross-border cooperation programmes under the EU’s regional and structural policy (approximately EUR 9.5 million) will be transferred to Interreg’s internal border cooperation programmes. The reason for this transfer is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
