12.11.2020 | The Centre of Expertise for Impact Investing is now testing in practice its model on promoting the employment of people with partial work ability. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the KEHA Centre are also involved in the project. The model has been built in cooperation with a wide range of experts over the past few months.

16.12.2020 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and employment administration have jointly prepared a transitional strategy for public employment and business services (TE services), which outlines the priorities for these services in the coming years. The strategy published on 16 December 2020 focuses on ensuring individual services and an employer-based recruitment service. The strategy also emphasises strategic partnership and digitalisation.

9.2.2022 | The final reports of the “Capacity of and planning criteria for rescue services and civil emergency preparedness” project have been published on the Institutional Repository for the Government (Valto). The objective of the project was to produce a basis for the national planning criteria for rescue services and investigate how well the resources and capacity of rescue services and civil emergency preparedness correspond to the operating environment, risks and customer needs. 

19.4.2022 | The intersectoral Talent Boost programme aims to increase the immigration of experts to Finland. Regional Talent Hub cooperation models, which the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment supports through discretionary government grants, are part of the programme. The grants for 2022 were allocated to five large cities.

2.12.2021 | The Ministerial Working Group on Promoting Employment decided on 2 December 2021 on the funding model for the TE services reform 2024 as an incentive for municipalities to develop and offer efficient employment services. The ministerial working group also refined its previous outlines on tasks that are centralised nationally and tasks that are transferring to the municipalities.

16.6.2021 | The budget proposal for 2021 includes a EUR 2 million discretionary government grant in item 32.30.40 (Supporting sustainable growth and vitality in the regions) for Talent Hub activities that promote the Talent Boost programme. In addition, EUR 262,200 has been allocated to such activities in 2020.

17.6.2021 | The entrepreneurship programme Draft Program of the Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Joensuu and the Kuopio Living Lab product development and testing service concept of the City of Kuopio are the winners of Finland’s national competition for the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.

26.1.2022 | Employment and economic development services (TE services) are set to be transferred to municipalities during 2024. The Government’s decision is related to its aim to raise the employment rate and to increase municipal responsibility for employment services. The reform will have a broad impact on the employees and duties of both TE Offices and municipalities.

3.12.2021 | The Ministry of Finance has granted the Digital and Population Data Services Agency EUR 1.8 million for building an operating model for digital support. A pilot project is to be completed in 2022, and the model is to be later adopted nationwide as a permanent service. The financing was granted from the Programme for the Promotion of Digitalisation. One of the programme objectives is to expand the national operating model to cover digital support to business operators.
