Kuluttajaluottodirektiivin ja kuluttajaoikeusdirektiivin muutosdirektiivin täytäntöönpanoa koskevat lait vahvistettiin 16.1.2026. Muutoksia tehdään kuluttajansuojalakiin ja useisiin muihin kuluttajaluottoja ja rahoituspalveluja koskeviin lakeihin.

13.10.2023 | The Government proposes that nicotine pouches and other smokeless nicotine products be more comprehensively covered by the Tobacco Act than now. The aim is for legally sold nicotine pouches to replace illegally obtained snus. The proposal also aims to prevent the use of nicotine pouches among young people. 

8.8.2024 | The Ministry of Finance’s draft budget for 2025 implements the Government’s policies to strengthen general government finances. The draft budget totals EUR 88.1 billion and shows a deficit of EUR 12.2 billion.

25.2.2021 | The proposal would remove the tax exemption of small imported online purchases. In future, value added tax would also be collected for shipments valued EUR 22 or less that are imported from outside the EU. Changes would also be made to distance selling within the EU. The government proposal would also reduce the administrative burden on companies regarding value added tax.

The request is related to the so-called EU Pilot mechanism between the Commission and a Member State.

4.3.2021 | The Myllykoski hydropower plant will cease operating on Kuusamo’s River Kuusinkijoki, allowing threatened brown trout free access to extensive watercourse and lake areas. A binding letter of intent was signed in Helsinki on 4 March 2021. The power plant has been the only dam structure of the large catchment area. Koskienergia Koskivoima Oy will sell its power plant to the Kuusinkijoki kuntoon ry.
