1.6.2026 | Finland will host a series of testing events led by NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) as part of the national implementation of NATO Innovation Range. The events will be held in Riihimäki, Joensuu, Oulu and Turku.

11.6.2026 | The Government will conduct pilot projects to reduce youth unemployment in cities with high youth unemployment, focusing on neighbourhoods and districts. Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Turku, Tampere, Oulu, Pori, Lahti, Kuopio, Jyväskylä and Joensuu have joined the pilot.

28.2.2026 | Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Rome, Italy, from 2 to 3 March. During her visit, she will meet Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, attend an Italian-Finnish business forum and speak at the Arctic Circle Forum about Finland's Arctic foreign and security policy.

22.12.2025 | On 22 December 2025, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has ratified decrees, supported by the Finance Committee, which define the fees for Traficom’s services. The decrees will enter into force on 1 January 2026.

24.10.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has submitted draft decrees concerning the fees charged for the services provided by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, and the Finnish Meteorological Institute for comments. These decrees would replace the current ones, which will expire on 31 December 2025.

29.1.2026 | A study carried out by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs together with the University of Helsinki and the Tampere University examined Russia’s full-spectrum influence activities directed at Finland since the 2000s and their effects on Finnish society and decision-making.

2.12.2025 | Finland has ranked 8th in the Gender Equality Index for the European Union (EU). The Index measured gender equality in various domains, such as work, health and power. The data for the most recent Index is mainly from 2023 and 2024.

16.12.2025 | Eight EU Member States stressed the importance of significantly strengthening security at Europe’s eastern external border at the Eastern Flank Summit in Helsinki on 16 December. The Member States on the EU’s eastern flank called for the Union’s support in building credible and united defence capabilities along the border with Russia from north to south. The summit at the House of the Estates was hosted by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
