5.3.2024 | On 4 March 2023, the EU Member States, European Parliament and Commission reached a provisional political agreement on a proposal for a regulation on packaging and packaging waste. Finland has taken an active part in the preparation of the regulation. The proposal that was agreed on can be evaluated in further detail only after its final content is available. 12.12.2019 | Starting in the beginning of 2020, the Member States of the European Union will have to report their food waste to the European Commission. At the Time's up for food waste conference held in Brussels on 12 December, the Commission will issue its recommendations on reducing food losses and food waste. 4.3.2021 | On 4 March 2021 more than 100 people participated in a webinar to boost Finland’s preparations for the UN Food Systems Summit FSS in September 2021. The webinar was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ministry for Foreign Affairs. 24.6.2021 | On Thursday 25 June, Finland hosted a meeting of the Nordic ministers of agriculture. Finland holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2021. The meeting was held via video conferencing, and it was chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Jari Leppä.
