28.12.2023 | The aim is to accelerate and streamline the administration of vaccines and to alleviate the shortage of healthcare personnel. The amendments that are being circulated for comments would allow dentists, senior pharmacists, pharmacists, practical nurses and biomedical laboratory scientists to administer vaccines. The amendments would also make it easier to organise vaccination at pharmacies’ health service points.

The greatest shortage of labour is in the health and social services sector, where skilled workers are needed for the care of older people, in particular. The outlook for the technology sector is expected to improve after next summer.

22.12.2021 | From now on, biomedical laboratory scientists and practical nurses will be entitled to administer COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccinations will be offered to people who are 5 years of age or older, and the order of vaccination priority will be abandoned. On Wednesday 22 December, the Government decided to amend sections 2 and 3 of the Government Decree on Voluntary COVID-19 Vaccinations.

16.4.2020 | On Thursday 16 April, the Government submitted to Parliament its proposal for the General Government Fiscal Plan for 2021-2024. Agreement was reached on the General Government Fiscal Plan in connection with the government session on spending limits on 8 April. The Government has increased appropriations in the General Government Fiscal Plan for extending compulsory education and for implementing the reform of central government transfers for performing arts, among others.

8.4.2020 | The Government has reached agreement on the second supplementary budget proposal for 2020 and the General Government Fiscal Plan for 2021-2024. The second supplementary budget proposal focuses on the costs caused by the coronavirus epidemic. In the administrative branch of the Ministry of Education and Culture, appropriations are proposed for alleviating the financial distress of actors in the culture and sport sectors, among other things.

19.10.2021 | Policy Guidance on AI for Children, developed by the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF in partnership with Finland, was piloted by companies and public sector operators around the world during 2021. The second version of the guidance will be drafted on the basis of the results of the piloting and published in November 2021.
