2.4.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests comments on the draft government proposal to amend the Private Roads Act. 26.3.2026 | Uudistuksen tavoitteena on tarjota keinoja taloyhtiöiden häiriötilanteisiin puuttumiseen, osakehuoneiston hallintaanottoon, toiminnan alasajoon sekä sähköautojen latausjärjestelyihin. Lisäksi halutaan selkeyttää lyhytaikaisen vuokraamisen pelisääntöjä. 

26.3.2026 | Hallitus ehdottaa huoneenvuokralainsäädännön uudistamista. Tavoitteena on selkeyttää vuokralaisen ja vuokranantajan oikeuksia ja velvollisuuksia sekä parantaa vuokramarkkinoiden toimivuutta muuttuneessa toimintaympäristössä. 

10.12.2025 | Vuokranantajan pidempää irtisanomisaikaa ehdotetaan lyhennettäväksi kuudesta kuukaudesta neljään kuukauteen. Pidemmän irtisanomisajan alkamisajankohtaa siirrettäisiin yhdestä vuodesta kahteen vuoteen. Ehdotuksia koskevat pykäläluonnokset ovat nyt lausunnolla.

18.12.2025 | A working group proposes that the Arbitration Act be reformed by replacing it with a new act. The objective is, in accordance with the Government Programme, to improve the competitiveness of arbitration in Finland and make the act correspond to the best international practices.

20.9.2024 | According to a new study, the volume of legal private copying has continued to decline in Finland. In 2024, some 130,000 people aged 15 to 79 living in Finland copied music and 616,000 video material. Altogether, 709,000 people copied music or video material, which is less than in 2023, when the number was 755,000.

4.12.2025 | Today, the Government submitted a proposal to Parliament to remove obstacles to information sharing between the police and other authorities in combating crime. The proposal includes amendments to provisions on access to information and disclosure of information. These changes aim to enable better exchange of information for preventing, detecting and investigating offences, for example.

19.12.2024 | Asuinhuoneiston vuokrauksesta annettuun lakiin ehdotetaan muutoksia. Tavoitteena on huomioida lainsäädäntömuutokset ja toimintaympäristön kehitys. Samalla esitetään eräitä tarkistuksia myös liikehuoneiston vuokrauksesta annettuun lakiin.

4.7.2025 | The Ministry of the Interior has sent out for comments a draft government proposal aiming to streamline the exchange of information between the police and other authorities. This proposal implements the objective outlined in the Government Programme to step up the combating of crime and remove obstacles to the related exchange of information. The deadline for submitting comments is August 17, 2025.

18.6.2025 | The Ministry of the Interior has issued a new decree on fees charged by the police. The amendments apply to the fees for passports and identity cards as well as for firearms licences and private security sector licences. The decree will be in force from 1 July to 31 December 2025.

13.8.2025 | Technology-related issues have become central to foreign and security policy as never before, and technologies have a growing importance as instruments for geopolitical and economic competition. In response to these challenges, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has published Finland’s priorities for an international technology policy, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen has appointed Antti Vasara as Special Envoy for Technology.

22.11.2023 | Oikeusministeriö on asettanut työryhmän, jonka tehtävänä on valmistella lakiehdotus asuinhuoneiston vuokrauksesta annetun lain ajantasaistamiseksi. Työryhmän työtä seuraamaan on asetettu seurantaryhmä. Työ on osa pääministeri Petteri Orpon hallitusohjelmaa.

8.12.2025 | The seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly UNEA, the world’s highest-level decision-making body for matters related to the environment, will take place in Nairobi, Kenya from 8 to 12 December 2025. The theme of the session is ‘Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet’. Finland’s UNEA delegation in Nairobi will be led by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.
