27.6.2024 | The Government proposes that the President of the Republic approve the amendments to the Act on Electronic Communication Services and that the Act enter into force on 1 July 2024. The must-carry obligation for radio programmes would be removed from the Act, the provision on the revocation of radio licences would be amended and other technical amendments would be made. After a one-year transition period, the must-carry obligation for radio would end on 1 July 2025.

7.11.2024 | On 7 November 2024, the Government granted radio programme licences for a new nationwide frequency block 26, and for 20 individual frequencies in a supplementary application round. Licences were issued to different parts of Finland, including to local radio broadcasting operators.

The amendment will freeze the annual index increases to funding of the Finnish Broadcasting Company, YLE. The amendment implements the policies of the parliamentary YLE working group.

The amendment would freeze the annual index increases to funding of the Finnish Broadcasting Company, YLE. The proposal implements the policies of the parliamentary YLE working group.

The Newcomer Company Award went to Sensofusion, and Sandvik Mining and Construction was recognised as the Long-term International Investor. The year’s Community Award was granted to the Finnish Startup Community.
