28.11.2025 | Finnish Biodiversity Award 2023–2024 was given to an actor that had done something inspiring to halt biodiversity loss. The winner of the competition was Crowdsorsa mobile game that has already helped fight against invasive alien species in Finland on a total of 4 million square metres. Honourable mentions were awarded to the cities of Kauniainen and Vantaa. 13.5.2024 | The first prize in the competition for a grave memorial honouring President Martti Ahtisaari has been awarded to Harri Pakarinen for his design Blessed. The competition was of a high artistic standard, and the 171 entries that were approved were highly diverse. 24.5.2022 | This year’s Finnish State Award for Foreign Translators goes to Kadri Jaanits, who is well known for the translation of Finnish literature into Estonian. 24.10.2022 | The Helsinki Book Fair will be held at the Expo and Convention Centre, Messukeskus Helsinki, from 27 to 30 October. At stand 6k1, Europe Information of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will offer information about topical EU questions and a selection of publications free of charge. Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will visit the stand on Saturday 29 October. 25.5.2021 | Kirsi Kinnunen, a translator of Finnish graphic novels and other works into French, has been selected as the recipient of this year’s Finnish State Award for Foreign Translators. The award includes a cash prize of €15,000. 25.7.2025 | The Finnish OSCE Chairpersonship will organise a conference on 31 July 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act. The conference will pay tribute to the legacy of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in Helsinki in 1975 and highlight the role of civil society in advancing OSCE’s principles and commitments.
