The aim of terminology work at the Prime Minister's Office is to harmonise the terms used in government texts, both in the national languages of Finland and in foreign languages, and to promote clear communication. This facilitates cooperation between branches of government and ensures that the same terms are used consistently across languages.

The Translation and Language Division at the Prime Minister’s Office has published new content in the Government Termbank Valter. The updated glossaries include names of agencies, offence designations and terminology related to NATO, integration, parliamentary work and intelligence.

1.2.2019 | The Translation and Language Division of the Prime Minister's Office prepares glossaries of topical terms. The most recent lists of terms are related to the health, social services and regional government reform and the intelligence gathering legislation, prepared in the ministries and discussed in Parliament. The Prime Minister's Office has now published three new glossaries to harmonise the use of terminology in Finnish, Swedish and English.

9.10.2023 | The Finnish Government proposes about EUR 16.2 billion in appropriations for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and its administrative branch for 2024. This is slightly over EUR 134 million more than in the 2023 Budget. The increase is due to needs assessment changes in pensions, for example, and to the implementation of reforms set out in the Government Programme.

28.8.2023 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health proposes appropriations of about EUR 16.15 billion for the Ministry and its administrative branch for 2024. This is about EUR 0.4 billion more than in the 2023 Budget. The increase is mainly due to changes in the needs assessment.
