The Ministry of Finance is led by Minister of Finance Riikka Purra. Her responsibilities at the Ministry include economic policy, economic prospects and taxation.

Profile

Riikka Katriina Purra was born on 13 June 1977 in Pirkkala. She spent her childhood and youth in Tampere. She lives in Kirkkonummi with her husband and children.

Purra graduated with a Master of Social Sciences from the University of Turku in 2004. She studied political science, economics, environmental policy and, later, educational science. Purra worked at the university, for example, as a graduate student and teacher. In 2016, she stared work as a political planner in the Finns Party.

Purra has served as a member of the Local Council of Kirkkonummi since 2017 and as a member of the County Council of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County since 2022. Purra was elected to Parliament for the first time in 2019. During her first parliamentary term, Purra chaired the Administration Committee. 

Purra was elected as a deputy leader of the Finns Party in 2019 and as leader in 2021. In her free time, Purra likes to spend time in nature, make vegetarian food and spend time with her family at home and at their summer cottage.
