The objective is to implement nationally the 2024 amendments (Directive (EU) 2024/3101) made to the EU Ship Source Pollution Directive. The amended Directive requires Member States to prohibit discharges from ships in accordance with International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). Administrative sanctions must be laid down for violations of prohibitions and restrictions, which requires a reform of the sanction system of the Act on Environmental Protection in Maritime Transport. In addition, the Directive sets requirements for the monitoring, investigation and reporting of ship emissions which must be transposed.

Goals and results

The aim is to implement the amendments into the Act on Environmental Protection in Maritime Transport. Amendments would be made to the sanctions system of the Act in particular.
