The Government has appointed a Climate Policy Roundtable in order to ensure a fair and just transition and acceptability of the climate measures. The purpose of the Roundtable is to create a common understanding and view of how Finland can make a just transition to a carbon neutral society even faster than envisaged so far.

Project status

Goals and results

The purpose of the Roundtable is to create a common understanding and view of how Finland can make a just transition to a carbon neutral society even faster than envisaged so far.

The aim is to increase the acceptability of climate policy and give different stakeholders and experts a channel to participate in the national preparation of climate actions. The Climate Policy Roundtable translates into concrete terms the promises of the Government Programme on policy reform, non-discrimination, new forms of interaction, long-term policy and intergenerational justice.

Starting points

According to Prime Minister Marin’s Government Programme, all sectors of society must be involved in the fight against climate change. The Climate Policy Roundtable does not make decisions; instead, it supports the preparation and implementation of climate policy at the national level.
