22.5.2026 | In its meeting on 22 May, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the Commission’s proposal for the 28th company law regime and Finland’s positions on the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive.

27.3.2026 | In its meeting on Friday 27 March, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the EU’s visa policy, migration management and the Digital Networks Act. The ministerial committee also outlined Finland’s positions for two council meetings to be held next week.

13.11.2025 | The Conference on Energy Transition in Capture Fisheries discussed the opportunities offered by new energy sources and electricity and ways to reduce the use of energy. The conference gave wide support to the declaration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on boosting energy transition in the fisheries sector.

29.4.2026 | In its meeting on Wednesday 29 April, the Ministerial Committee on EU Affairs discussed the issues on the agenda for the European Political Community (EPC) Summit, temporary protection for Ukrainians and the revision of the EU emissions trading system. The Ministerial Committee also outlined Finland’s positions for two council meetings taking place next week.

10.11.2025 | On the opening day of COP30 in Belém, the Nordic Ministers for Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food, and Forestry present a ministerial declaration that underlines the potential of food systems and bioeconomy to address climate change through both mitigation and adaptation.

13.11.2025 | In its meeting on 13 November, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs outlined Finland’s positions on the European Commission’s proposal for the multiannual financial framework, which will serve as the Union’s long-term budget for 2028–2034. The ministerial committee on also outlined Finland’s positions three council meetings to be held next week.

6.5.2025 | The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the European Commission disagree on the interpretations concerning scientific salmon fishery and the deduction in the salmon quota by the European Commission. By the transfer of quotas that has now been made, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry ensures that coastal fishers will not suffer from the unfounded deduction in Finland’s salmon quota by the European Commission.

12.6.2025 | Nordic Council of Ministers for Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry convened at its annual ministerial meeting in Kuopio on 11–12 June 2025. Among the topics discussed were security of supply and opportunities related to the bioeconomy, and the ministers also met young farmers. Ministers from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark as well as the autonomous regions of Åland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland attended the meeting. Iceland was represented by the State Secretary.

26.2.2024 | The EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council convened to discuss the current crisis in the European agricultural sector. The EU agriculture ministers strongly support both fast and long-term action to improve farmers’ situation.

5.12.2025 | In its meeting on Friday 5 December, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the European Commission’s proposal for the EU’s next multiannual financial framework and the agendas for four upcoming council meetings.
