29.4.2026 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the eighth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) to be held in the Armenian capital on Monday 4 May. The theme of the summit is Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe. Along with the heads of state or government of the countries involved in the EPC, representatives of EU institutions and the secretaries-general of NATO, the OSCE and the Council of Europe have been invited to the summit.

21.6.2022 | On Tuesday 21 June, Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s visit to Western Balkans continued in Tirana, Albania, where she had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama. 

18.12.2024 | The leaders of the EU Member States and the Western Balkans highlighted their close partnership at a summit on Wednesday 18 December in Brussels. The EU reiterated its commitment to the region and called for strong foreign and security policy cooperation from its Western Balkans partners. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo represented Finland at the summit.

25.7.2025 | The Finnish OSCE Chairpersonship will organise a conference on 31 July 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act. The conference will pay tribute to the legacy of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in Helsinki in 1975 and highlight the role of civil society in advancing OSCE’s principles and commitments. Helsinki+50 Fund will be launched as part of the Conference to support the OSCE’s operational capacity.

16.12.2024 | The EU General Affairs Council (GAC) will meet in Brussels on Tuesday 17 December. In their meeting, the ministers will continue preparations for the upcoming European Council and approve conclusions on EU enlargement. Finland’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, Jori Arvonen, will represent Finland at the meeting.

29.4.2026 | Pääministeri Petteri Orpo osallistuu Suomen edustajana Armenian pääkaupungissa maanantaina 4. toukokuuta järjestettävään Euroopan poliittisen yhteisön (EPY) kahdeksanteen kokoukseen. Kokouksen teemana on tulevaisuuden rakentaminen: yhtenäisyys ja vakaus Euroopassa. Kokoukseen on kutsuttu EPY:n toimintaan osallistuvien eurooppalaisten maiden valtion- tai hallituksen johtajien lisäksi EU-instituutioiden edustajat, Naton, Etyj:n ja Euroopan neuvoston pääsihteerit.

1.12.2022 | Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana, the capital of Albania, on Tuesday 6 December. The meeting will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the EU and the Western Balkan countries while also taking into account the impacts of Russia’s war of aggression on the region.

17.6.2022 | Early next week, Prime Minister Sanna Marin will visit Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Croatia. The main topics on the agenda of the meeting with the state leaders are Finland’s application to join NATO, the impact of the application on strengthening NATO’s security, and NATO's future policies. Other topics to be discussed are the EU accession processes of Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro.

28.2.2023 | This year, the recipient of the Finnish State Award for Foreign Translators is Claire Saint-Germain, who has successfully translated Finnish literature into French. The prize, which has been awarded since 1975, is worth EUR 15,000. The Ministry of Education and Culture awards the prize annually based on a proposal by the Finnish Literature Exchange (FILI).

Other items on the agenda included the opening of EU accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia, measures to combat antisemitism and the state of play regarding the next multiannual financial framework and the recovery package.
