Työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö asetti toukokuussa 2022 työryhmän valmistelemaan patenttilainsäädännön kokonaisuudistusta. Osana uudistusta työryhmä on arvioinut myös hyödyllisyysmallijärjestelmää ja sen tarvetta tulevaisuudessa.

10.2.2022 | Antti Riivari has served as Director General of the Finnish Patent and Registration Office since March 2017. The Government decided on 10 February 2022 to continue his appointment for a five-year term starting on 1 March.

20.12.2024 | The start of 2025 will see the entry into force of new acts and decrees. The most important changes in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are summarised below.

27.10.2022 | The Government proposes that the services of the Finnish Trade Register would be mainly electronic by 2026. In addition, businesses would be liable to pay a fee if they neglect to submit the necessary information to the register. The aim of the Government proposal is to improve the timeliness, reliability and company security of the Finnish Trade Register.

17.9.2024 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH), has assessed the need to amend the legislation on the Finnish Trade Register.

16.12.2021 | Amendments to the Trade Register Act and the Business Information Act will take effect in August next year. The amendments will update the Acts to comply with two EU Directives. Trade register data will move more easily between EU Member States in future. In addition, a electronic trade register extract will become free of charge through a decree amendment.

17.3.2020 | The Government resolution to slow the spread of coronavirus infections and to protect at-risk groups, issued on 16 March 2020, states as follows (section 2):

27.9.2021 | The Government proposes amendments to the Trade Register Act and Business Information Act that aim to facilitate the movement of information between authorities in different EU Member States. The proposed amendments are related to the implementation of the Digitalisation Directive concerning Business Registers and of the Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

15.6.2021 | The Real Time Economy project will create the conditions for companies to move to real-time economy. Invoices and receipts will be electronic, for example, and business information will be automatically transferred between different systems. Up-to-date information and its automated processing will increase productivity in both companies and public administration.
