9.12.2021 | The purpose of the proposed amendments is to make working conditions more predictable and to improve the position of those employed under a variable hours contract. This was brought on by the implementation of the EU Directive on Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions and the Government decision to improve the status of employees in temporary employment and on zero-hours contracts. This section provides for the right of an employee performing work at night to a commuter service organised by the employer. The amendment is scheduled to enter into force at the beginning of 2020; the same time as the new Working Hours Act.
