In its session on 27 June, the Government proposed that the President of the Republic approve the amendments to the Border Guard Act and certain related acts. The President of the Republic is scheduled to approve the amendments on 28 June, and they will enter into force on 5 July 2024.

  7. 11.12.2025 | Two Finnish companies, Aboa Space Research Oy and SEATOM Technologies, have been selected to join a challenge programme of NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA).   8. 2.12.2025 | The first evaluations have been published on the preliminary impacts and results of Finland’s CAP Strategic Plan. The evaluations analysed the results and impact achieved related to the entrepreneurial income and competitiveness of agriculture, animal welfare, the biodiversity of agricultural environments and emissions from agriculture.   9. 22.12.2025 | On 22 December 2025, the Government adopted a decree on a new grant that employment authorities can use to help companies hire unemployed young people under 30 years of age. This grant is also known as the employment voucher or recruitment subsidy. The subsidy granted to a company covers half of the young person’s salary for six months, but no more than EUR 1,500 per month.

  11. 28.11.2025 | Finnish Biodiversity Award 2023–2024 was given to an actor that had done something inspiring to halt biodiversity loss. The winner of the competition was Crowdsorsa mobile game that has already helped fight against invasive alien species in Finland on a total of 4 million square metres. Honourable mentions were awarded to the cities of Kauniainen and Vantaa. The prizes were awarded by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.
