  4. 19.12.2024 | On 19 December 2024, the President of the Republic approved the Act on Offshore Wind Power in the Exclusive Economic Zone. The Act will help promote offshore wind power in the exclusive economic zone, clarify the regulation of offshore wind power projects within the zone and ensure that the rights to the exploitation of offshore wind power are granted in a fair, transparent and predictable manner.

  5. 29.12.2022 | On 29 December 2022, the Government granted research permits for offshore wind projects in four open sea areas in Finland’s exclusive economic zone. The permits were granted to Ilmatar Energy Oy for the research area “Voima” in the open sea area off the coast of Jakobstad and the research area “Norrskär” off the coast of Kaskinen. Eolus Finland Oy/Tuulia Offshore Ab and Wellamo Offshore Ab received permits for the research areas “Tuulia” and “Wellamo” in the Sea of Bothnia off the coast of Pori.

  7. 20.1.2022 | The Government has granted research permits for three offshore wind power projects in Finland’s exclusive economic zone. Wpd Finland Oy was granted a permit on 20 January 2022 for the research area west of Jakobstad. OX2 Finland Oy received permits for two projects in the research areas west of Hailuoto and Jakobstad last week. Both companies’ permits offshore of Jakobstad concern the same area. The studies are set to be conducted this and next year.

The winner of the competition was Crowdsorsa mobile game that has already helped fight against invasive alien species in Finland on a total of 4 million square metres. Honourable mentions were awarded to the cities of Kauniainen and Vantaa. The prizes were awarded by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.
