22.12.2023 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has granted approximately EUR 30.9 million in energy investment aid under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan to 12 projects related to energy infrastructure and the electrification and decarbonisation of industrial processes. Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen signed the aid decisions on 19 December 2023.

19.3.2020 | On 19 March 2020, the Finnish Government issued a decree on investment aid for projects accelerating the replacement of coal in energy production. The aid is intended to promote voluntary phase-out of coal use by the end of 2025. Coal-based power and heat generation will be banned in Finland as of 1 May 2029

2.12.2020 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has adopted the first decisions concerning investment aid for projects that rapidly phase out the use of coal energy. Aid was granted to four projects totalling EUR 7,715,880. The supported projects involve using non-combustion-based technologies in district heat generation.

20.5.2022 | Gasgrid Finland Oy and US-based Excelerate Energy, Inc. signed a ten-year lease agreement for the LNG terminal ship Exemplar on 20 May 2022. The vessel will safeguard Finland’s security of supply and help Finland meet its gas needs in the event that imports of Russian pipeline gas are shut down.

20.12.2021 | On 17 December 2021, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment decided to grant investment aid to four major renewable energy demonstration projects. The total amount of aid granted was EUR 64.12 million.
