23.9.2024 | On 23 September 2024, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal for an act amending the Act on the Promotion of the Use of Renewable Fuels in Transport. According to the proposal, the rise in the levels of the statutory distribution obligation and additional obligation would be more moderate.

5.7.2024 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is requesting comments on a government proposal that would allow the delivery of alcoholic beverages from domestic retail outlets directly to recipients. This proposal is part of the implementation of the Government Programme. Comments on the government proposal can be submitted between 5 July and 30 August 2024.

19.9.2022 | Fuel prices have been rising fast, partly due to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. To curb the rapid rise in prices, the Government decided earlier this year to lower the renewable fuel distribution obligation in 2022. Now the Government is proposing the same reduction of 7.5 percentage points for 2023.

10.10.2024 | The Government proposes an amendment to the Alcohol Act that would allow the delivery of alcoholic beverages to customers. In practice, the amendment would allow, for example, home deliveries and online sales of alcoholic beverages.

26.1.2021 | Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Krista Kiuru calls on the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to scale up its production capacity and to deliver the agreed volumes of its COVID-19 vaccine to the EU Member States once the vaccine has been granted a marketing authorisation in the EU. Minister Kiuru sent a letter to Pascal Soriot, Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca, on 26 January.

The Commission continues to play an essential role in putting pressure on the manufacturers.
