28.10.2025 | According to Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, the Nordic countries have an increasingly important role in the current security policy situation. Prime Minister Orpo attended the meeting of the Nordic prime ministers and heads of government and the Nordic Council’s plenary session in Stockholm on 28 October.

19.11.2025 | In its evening session on Wednesday 19 November, the Government discussed topical issues related to Åland together with representatives of the Government of Åland.

25.6.2025 | The European Council on 26 June in Brussels will focus on topical international events. Items on the agenda at the meeting of the EU heads of state or government will include support for Ukraine, growing tensions in the Middle East, European defence and security, and strengthening the EU’s competitiveness. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the meeting.

27.6.2025 | The EU heads of state and government made important decisions to enhance security at the European Council in Brussels on 26 June. Support for Ukraine will continue and measures to strengthen European defence will be accelerated. The leaders also discussed the EU’s relations with the rest of the world and European competitiveness. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo represented Finland at the meeting.

19.12.2024 | The European Union reaffirmed its support for Ukraine when the leaders of the Member States met in Brussels on 19 December. The European Council held an in-depth discussion on Ukraine and the EU’s role on the global stage. Petteri Orpo represented Finland at the meeting. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was also in attendance.

25.10.2024 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will attend the Nordic Council Session in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 28–31 October along with Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz, who is responsible for Nordic cooperation, and Minister of Science and Culture Sari Multala.

29.10.2024 | At the Nordic Council Session on Tuesday 29 October in Reykjavik, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo presented the programme for Finland and Åland’s Council Presidency in 2025. Prime Minister Orpo also had a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as a meeting with the Nordic prime ministers and the representative of the autonomous region of Åland.
