27.1.2026 | A new factsheet published by the Prime Minister’s Office on 27 January provides up-to-date information on antisemitism and the history and current situation of the Jewish minority in Finland. The publication aims to support the authorities, decision-making, education and preventive work.

13.2.2026 | An interim report has been published on the project implementing the Government’s Equality Statement. The report brings together information on the project’s progress between 2023 and 2026. According to the report, the work has already led to legislative reforms and increased concrete anti‑racism measures across different sectors.

15.2.2026 | Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Israel and the Occupied Palestinian territory on 15–16 February.

25.1.2024 | On 23 January, the Prime Minister’s Office decided that Finland would begin observing Holocaust Remembrance Day in line with international practices as of 27 January 2024. The day had previously been designated in Finnish as Vainojen uhrien muistopäivä, or Memorial Day for Victims of Persecution.

28.1.2025 | Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz and President of the Republic Alexander Stubb attended a memorial ceremony in Poland on Monday 27 January to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

10.2.2025 | The annual OSCE Conference on addressing anti-Semitism opened today, February 10, in Helsinki. The conference is part of the OSCE's work on combating intolerance. In addition to anti-Semitism, the conference touches upon discrimination faced by Muslims, Christians and representatives of other religions.

6.11.2024 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra gave the Government’s address to a memorial ceremony for Jews handed over to Nazi Germany by Finland. The memorial was held in Helsinki on 6 November.

The statement contains a number of measures to promote equality and combat racism in Finnish society. Many of them are based on the Government Programme, but the statement also includes new measures. A more detailed action plan for the project will be drawn up in spring 2024.

27.1.2022 | On Holocaust Remembrance Day, which Finland observes as the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Persecution, we remember the lives lost to the destructive forces of intolerance, hatred and violence. In taking this moment to reflect on our collective grief, we look back on the past. This day reminds us of a painful part of our history and calls on us to bear responsibility for eradicating hate speech, racism and especially antisemitism – Europe’s original sin.
