    24.4.2026 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet in London from 27 April to 1 May 2026. IMO Member States are expected to decide the next steps in negotiations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. Other topics to be discussed include specifications to the rules on the carbon intensity and energy efficiency of vessels, the regulation of ballast water and guidance on reducing underwater noise.

  2. Finland seeks EU funding for subsea cable repair capacity - Finnish Government

    16.4.2026 | A Finnish-led project has applied for EUR 9.55 million in European Commission funding to reinforce subsea cable repair capacity. The project is coordinated by the Finnish National Emergency Supply Agency and involves partners from Finland, Sweden and Estonia.     20.10.2023 | On 19 and 20 October 2023, the Government and the President of the Republic discussed the national approval of amendments made to conventions adopted by the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization, IMO. The amendments concern the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) and the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments.
