9.12.2025 | The Ministry of the Interior has procured 50,000 litres of foam suitable for extinguishing different types of fires for use by Ukraine’s rescue services. The foam purchase is part of an emergency assistance package coordinated by the Ministry through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. 5.3.2024 | On 4 March 2023, the EU Member States, European Parliament and Commission reached a provisional political agreement on a proposal for a regulation on packaging and packaging waste. Finland has taken an active part in the preparation of the regulation. The proposal that was agreed on can be evaluated in further detail only after its final content is available. The proposal is still pending formal adoption by the Member States and Parliament.

11.12.2024 | During May and November, Finland delivered 68 truckloads of civilian material assistance to Ukraine.

5.2.2026 | On Thursday 5 February, the Government submitted a supplementary budget proposal for 2026 to Parliament. The supplementary budget focuses on boosting growth and investments with the goal of supporting employment. The proposal also includes a decrease to revenue estimates.

8.5.2024 | During Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Finland has actively delivered civilian material assistance to Ukraine. A total of 76 vehicles and 311 truckloads of aid have been donated from Finland. The collection and delivery of material assistance to Ukraine continues.

20.10.2023 | Because of the escalating conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, more than 100,000 Armenians have fled the region towards Armenia. Armenia has therefore requested assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This includes, among other things, necessities such as food packages, clothing and hygiene supplies.

5.3.2026 | Finland has provided Ukraine with an extensive package of equipment for combating oil spills. The package included donations compiled by the Finnish Border Guard and rescue departments, and materials procured by the Ministry of the Interior. A total of 35 truckloads of oil spill response equipment were delivered to Ukraine.

21.6.2023 | Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Finland has delivered civilian material assistance to Ukraine. This assistance has consisted mainly of donations from the private and public sectors. The Ministry of the Interior is coordinating the provision of assistance to Ukraine through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

The reform on regional state administration will create comprehensive and cost-effective state administration services in regions to promote sustainable growth, competitiveness and attractiveness,” Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto said at a press conference on the launch of the Centres.

It includes proposals to launch new transport projects and to support Ukraine. The proposal will decrease the revenue estimate by EUR 189 million and increase the requirement for appropriations by EUR 455 million.

28.11.2025 | With the aim of strengthening Finland’s economic growth, speeding up investments and improving employment, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has prepared a growth and employment package in line with the Government’s decisions. The package will be funded by redistributing unused funds from the investment aid programmes in the branch of Government of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. The estimated total amount of funds will be EUR 156 million.

5.4.2022 | Over the past few weeks, Finland has been sending civilian material assistance to Ukraine and neighbouring regions. The most recent assistance package was sent on 5 April and consisted of two ambulances and a variety of rescue service supplies. The material assistance was provided through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
