5.5.2026 | Speech by Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen at Crisis management NOW – Serving peace 70 years and beyond in Helsinki on 5 May 2026.

31.3.2026 | Prime Minister Petteri Orpo called for quick decisions on EU funding when he met with Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland Micheál Martin in Helsinki on Tuesday 31 March. Discussions at the meeting focused Ireland’s forthcoming EU Council Presidency, key international issues and bilateral relations between Ireland and Finland.

28.2.2025 | Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Dublin, Belfast and London from 3 to 4 March. In Dublin, the Foreign Minister will meet Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Minister for Defence Simon Harris. In Belfast, Minister Valtonen will deliver the Annual Harri Holkeri Lecture on mediation at Queen’s University. In London, she will speak about European security at an event hosted by Chatham House.

9.2.2024 | In the second round of the presidential election, a total of 62,294 people cast their vote in advance at Finland’s missions abroad. Altogether 220 crew members voted on board Finnish vessels.

30.1.2023 | Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen and Permanent Secretary Kirsi Pimiä will visit the United States between 29 January and 3 February. Their visit seeks to deepen bilateral relations with the United States counterparts in the Ministry of the Interior’s branch of government and with key stakeholders. They also aim explore recent developments in the areas of internal and national security and migration in the United States.

6.5.2026 | Crisis Management NOW was held on 5 May at the University of Helsinki. The event drew experts, decision-makers and others interested in the topic to discuss the development and future direction of comprehensive crisis management. In 2026, Finland marks 70 years of engagement in international crisis management.
