Finland's strong defence capability and resilience will strengthen the whole Alliance, says Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen in her speech at the Annual Meeting of Heads of Mission.

29.9.2020 | Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend the special meeting of the European Council in Brussels on 1–2 October. At the request of Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister Marin will also represent him in matters discussed at the meeting, as Löfven is unable to attend.

19.2.2021 | The EU foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on Monday 22 February. Finland’s representative at the meeting will be Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto. The ministers will exchange views on Russia, the Strategic Compass for EU security and defence policy, and Hong Kong. Foreign Minister Haavisto will give a report on his visit to Ethiopia and Sudan as Special Envoy of the European Union.

12.11.2020 | On 12 November, the Government amended both the decree on narcotic substances, preparations and plants (Narcotics Decree) and the decree on psychoactive substances prohibited on the consumer market. The decrees will enter into force on 21 December 2020.
