At the same time, provisions on government grants for newspaper delivery included in the Postal Act were confirmed. The support will be regulated in more detail in a government decree. 25.3.2024 | The voting day for the European elections in Finland is Sunday 9 June 2024. Abroad, advance voting will be conducted between 29 May and 1 June 2024, but many of the advance polling stations abroad are open for a shorter period than this.

29.1.2024 | The election day for a second election (second round) will be 11 February 2024, and advance voting abroad will be from 31 January to 3 February 2024.

20.1.2023 | Finland will hold its parliamentary elections on Sunday 2 April 2023. Advance voting will be possible abroad from 22 to 25 March 2023. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for organising advance voting abroad.

24.11.2021 | County elections will be held in Finland on Sunday 23 January 2022. The advance voting period is from 12 to 18 January 2022 in Finland and from 12 to 15 January 2022 abroad. The advance polling stations abroad will be located in Finland's diplomatic and consular missions or their offices in 71 different countries. A total of 97 advance polling stations will be open abroad.

27.1.2021 | The municipal elections will be held on Sunday 13 June 2021. The Act on the Postponement of the 2021 Municipal Elections entered into force on 29 March 2021. The advance voting period will be from 26 May to 8 June in Finland and from 2 to 5 June abroad.

In order to use the ISNI identifier there was a need to clarify how and to what extent CMOs can supply personal data to the ISNI database and other copyright management organisations considering the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation.

9.6.2021 | Next year will mark 100 years since the Åland Islands gained autonomy. The autonomy celebrations will take place throughout the centenary year, from 9 June 2021 to 9 June 2022. Self-government is a part of Finnish democracy and gives the Finnish administrative structure its unique and multi-dimensional nature. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland is a part of the anniversary events.

27.8.2020 | Groups for developing the copyright infrastructure will convene in three compositions in August and September: Practices, Technology and Legal Issues. The groups consist of experts from different fields. They will report to the National Copyright Delegation in October 2020 to assess further measures.

20.2.2020 | The Prime Minister’s Office has appointed an interministerial steering group on maritime policy to prepare a Maritime Policy Action Plan. The group’s task is to develop maritime policy into a clear area of strength in line with Finland’s marine and maritime policy guidelines. The action plan is set to be completed in the first half of 2021.
