15.4.2026 | Kuopion Energia Oy has submitted to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment an environmental impact assessment (EIA) programme concerning its plan to build a small nuclear power plant in Kuopio for district heating production. 20.10.2021 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has granted Fingrid Oyj a permit to construct a transmission line of 400 kilovolts that will cross the border between Finland and Sweden. 27.1.2022 | On January 26 2022, the Energy programme committee of the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) decided to grant EUR 127 million for the implementation of a planned electricity transmission line between Northern Finland and Northern Sweden. The amount will be divided between Finland and Sweden.
