30.7.2025 | During the summer, there have been significantly more drownings and serious near misses than usual at public swimming areas. The Ministry of the Interior, the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes), the National Police Board of Finland and the Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation met on 30 July to discuss safety at swimming areas.

15.6.2020 | On Monday 15 June, Prime Minister Sanna Marin had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, where they discussed the videoconference of the members of the European Council to be held on Friday 19 June.

28.8.2020 | The Ministers of Economic Affairs of the Nordic Council of Ministers will discuss the recovery of business and industry from the coronavirus crisis at a video conference on 1 September 2020. Finland will be represented by Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä.

20.7.2020 | At the informal meeting of the EU competitiveness ministers on 21 July 2020, ministers responsible for research and innovation will discuss the EU’s ability to use research and innovation as a tool to address the current and future challenges in society. Three EU initiatives proposed by the German Presidency will serve as a basis for these discussions. State Secretary Kimmo Tiilikainen will represent Finland at the meeting on behalf of Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä.

12.6.2020 | At the informal meeting on 15 June 2020, the EU energy ministers will discuss the recovery of Europe and the European Green Deal, with particular focus on the transformation of energy systems and economic growth. Finland’s representative at the video meeting will be Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä.

2.6.2020 | The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has had a considerable impact on people’s livelihoods and everyday lives, the ability of businesses to operate viably, and the shape and direction of the Finnish economy. This fourth supplementary budget proposal for 2020 is part of the Government's coronavirus crisis follow-up package, which focuses on ensuring an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable emergence from the crisis.

12.8.2025 | The Siikajoki Vapaaksi environmental association is set to restore the Pöyrynkoski rapids, enabling the free ascent of migratory fish in the river. The project was formally launched on Tuesday 12 August at Revonlahti School in Siikajoki, North Ostrobothnia. Formally conveying favourable greetings to the event, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Sari Essayah noted that the project was a superb example of a remediation exercise promoted by local parties and prepared in broad partnership.
