25.1.2024 | A total of 58,757 persons cast their vote in advance in the presidential election at Finland’s missions abroad. The number of crew members who voted on board Finnish vessels was 223.

29.12.2021 | In the 2022 county elections, eligible voters must prove their identity to an election official in the same way as in any other elections. Voters may prove their identity with a photo ID, such as an identity card, passport or driving licence issued by the police. 

29.11.2024 | As from 1 December 2024, the National Land Survey of Finland will not submit data from the base stations in the base station network of permanent satellite navigation (GNSS) receivers (FinnRef) in real time to the EUREF Permanent GNSS Network (EPN).

10.6.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a monitoring report on the impacts of the legislative amendments that were needed to implement the Directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), or Telecoms Directive. The report also includes data on the achievement of the related regulatory objectives. The EECC regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services.

22.11.2024 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a monitoring project to assess the impacts of the legislative amendments that were needed to implement the Directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC). The Code regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom will carry out the impact assessment under the Ministry's guidance.

1.12.2023 | A voter's polling station in the presidential election is determined based on the voter’s place of residence. The voting register for the presidential election to be held in January 2024 will be compiled based on the information contained in the Population Information System on 8 December 2023.

4.4.2025 | The 2025 county elections and municipal elections will be held simultaneously, but they are two separate elections. The Ministry of Justice has published communication materials providing examples that will help voters know what to do when they go to a polling station. 

26.11.2021 | The Government has amended the decree that restricts the activities of food and beverage service businesses due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The restrictions on licensing and opening hours will be tightened in areas where the epidemic is in the community transmission phase. In addition, restrictions on food and beverage service businesses will be reintroduced in the region of South Karelia.

30.1.2024 | A second round will be conducted in the presidential election as none of the candidates received more than half of the votes in the first round. The candidates in the second round are Alexander Stubb representing the National Coalition Party with candidate number 8 and Pekka Haavisto representing a constituency association with candidate number 10. The candidate numbers are the same as in the first round. 

10.1.2024 | Finland will hold its presidential election on Sunday 28 January 2024. In the election, Finnish citizens entitled to vote will elect the President of the Republic for a term of six years. The candidates stand for election in the entire country.

29.1.2024 | The election day for a second election (second round) will be 11 February 2024, and advance voting abroad will be from 31 January to 3 February 2024.

15.1.2024 | Advance voting in the 2024 presidential election will be conducted from 17 to 23 January 2024 in Finland and from 17 to 20 January 2024 abroad. The election day is Sunday 28 January 2024. 

12.5.2021 | On 12 May 2021, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal to amend the Act on Transport Services.

8.2.2024 | The second round of the presidential election will take place on Sunday 11 February 2024. Polling stations will be open from 9.00 to 20.00. Preliminary results will be published on the evening of the election starting at 20.00.

12.5.2021 | On 12 May 2021, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal to amend the Act on Transport Services.
