22.6.2026 | Under the leadership of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, the Prime Minister's Office has appointed Juho Pesonen, Professor of Tourism Business at the University of Eastern Finland, as rapporteur for sustainable tourism development in the programme for eastern Finland. The appointment was announced at the programme’s advisory board meeting in Kouvola on 22 June. The report on sustainable growth is set to be completed by the end of November.

22.4.2026 | Finland has published a revised country brand strategy that sets out how Finland’s image will be shaped internationally in the coming years. The new strategy, Making happiness happen, presents Finland as a country that enables people to lead a good life in a well-organised society.

12.6.2025 | In 2024, the total demand for travel and tourism was EUR 16.6 billion. The strategy aims to increase tourism demand to EUR 20 billion by 2028. A key to achieving this target is doubling the amount of money foreign tourists spend in Finland, compared with 2019. Growth in tourism demand must create value for travel companies, employees in the sector, local communities, tourists and Finnish society.

Country brand surveys indicate that Finland’s brand has become more positive, and awareness of Finland has increased since 2024.
