A key to achieving this target is doubling the amount of money foreign tourists spend in Finland, compared with 2019. 16.12.2022 | Development projects promoting the recovery of tourism industry in the regions have supported the capacity of regions to cope with the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In spring 2022, the Regional Council of Southwest Finland, the Regional Council of South Savo and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment launched an external evaluation, which examined the implementation of the projects and the impacts of funding. 1.9.2021 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has appointed a High-Level Working Group on Tourism, which will serve as an expert advisory body on strategy related to tourism development. 12.8.2025 | The Siikajoki Vapaaksi environmental association is set to restore the Pöyrynkoski rapids, enabling the free ascent of migratory fish in the river. The project was formally launched on Tuesday 12 August at Revonlahti School in Siikajoki, North Ostrobothnia.
