11.2.2022 | The new EU regional and structural policy programming period will further accelerate the development of urban innovation ecosystems and launch national innovation and skills network activity. On 10 February 2022, the Government allocated a total of approximately EUR 21.6 million of Innovation and Skills in Finland programme funding for the implementation of ecosystem agreements and approximately EUR 6.9 million for the launch of a national innovation and skills network in 2022.

22.1.2025 | Finland has nominated a series of 13 properties designed by architect Alvar Aalto's office for inclusion in the World Heritage List. The properties, named "Aalto Works", represent Aalto's modern and humane architecture. At the request of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Finnish Heritage Agency has drawn up a nomination proposal, working together with Alvar Aalto Foundation and the stakeholders of the architectural sites.

24.3.2021 | Finland’s plan to build a new museum for architecture and design has taken an important step today as the Ministry of Education and Culture, along with the City of Helsinki, have established a new project organization to coordinate the planning of the new museum. Kaarina Gould – former Program Director of Helsinki’s World Design Capital year in 2012, current Executive Director of the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York – has been appointed to lead the project.

28.3.2019 | The concept plan for Helsinki’s envisaged new museum of architecture and design has been completed. The plan that had been ordered by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the City of Helsinki was released Thursday 28 March.

16.7.2024 | The European Commission awarded EUR 39.11 million in funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to 11 projects in Finland. Five central government projects received a total of EUR 20.16 million and six private sector projects a total of EUR 18.96 million in funding.

22.1.2024 | The European Member States, Parliament and the Commission have reached a provisional agreement on a regulation on CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). The emissions reduction targets for new heavy-duty vehicles will gradually tighten and the scope of application of the regulation will widen. The accord was achieved in tripartite negotiations on 18 January 2024.
