30.1.2025 | A working group preparing an overhaul of student financial aid has assessed the current situation in student financial aid and key development needs in the student financial aid system. Needs for development that were deemed essential include reinstating indexation and restructuring interest assistance and loan granting practices to improve the security of student loans. The working group's proposals were submitted to Minister Sandra Bergqvist on 30 January.

6.3.2025 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment have appointed a cross-sectoral working group to prepare the reform of the Act on the Screening of Foreign Corporate Acquisitions, as outlined in the Government Programme. The Programme states that the Act will be reformed to more effectively take into account risks relating to national security, security of supply and wide-ranging influence activities.

3.11.2025 | On 28 October 2025, Finland and Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a strategic partnership in the energy sector. The particular areas of cooperation are the promotion of energy and clean technologies, security of energy supply and decarbonisation of electricity and heat production.

23.5.2022 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has appointed a working group to enhance the development of the distribution infrastructure for new alternative transport fuels. The term of the working group runs from 20 May 2022 to 31 March 2023.

16.11.2022 | On 15 November 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published a summary of the comments on the draft government proposal on amending the Act on Electronic Communications Services with regard to the must-carry obligation for radio programmes. The proposal will not be submitted to Parliament during this government term, but its preparation will continue in the working group of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

29.10.2025 | The meeting of the China–Finland energy cooperation working group was held on 23 October 2025 in Suzhou, China, in cooperation with the National Energy Administration of China (NEA) and Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Finland was represented by Riku Huttunen, Director General of the Ministry’s Energy Department.

24.1.2022 | An assessment memorandum on emissions trading in the national road transport sector prepared by a cross-sectoral working group of the Ministry of Transport and Communications was published on 24 January 2022.

29.11.2024 | The tripartite working group tasked with examining the implementation of the EU Directive on Minimum Wages in Finland has completed its work. According to the group, implementation of the Directive does not require national legislative measures. The current legislation meets the requirements of the Directive, and the conclusion of collective agreements is supported through official measures. In Finland, minimum wages are based exclusively on the collective agreement system.

14.11.2025 | Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will visit Washington DC on 17–18 November to attend an ICE Pact Principals Meeting between Finland, the United States and Canada, the partner countries in the Icebreaker Collaboration Effort (ICE Pact). After the Principals Meeting, a meeting of national coordinators and working groups and an Industry Day event will take place in Washington DC on 19–20 November.

23.6.2020 | In its meeting on Tuesday 23 June, the Government also received a report on the measures to be taken based on the assessment of the crisis follow-up group headed by Permanent Secretary Martti Hetemäki. In addition, the Government received a briefing on the current epidemiological situation.

18.11.2024 | Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand will visit Brussels on 18–19 November. The programme for his visit will include an event focusing on recruiting more Finns to EU institutions, a discussion event on protecting and strengthening European democracy and a meeting of the EU General Affairs Council.

3.10.2024 | On 3 October 2024, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has set forth a regulation project to change the taxi service regulation in the Act on Transport Services. The government proposal is due to be submitted to Parliament during the autumn session of 2025.
