Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini will participate in an informal meeting of EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Gymnich) in Amsterdam on 5-6 February. At this meeting, the ministers will discuss the EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy, Iran and migration.

On Friday, the EU Foreign and Defence Ministers will have a joint debate on the EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy. Friday's discussions will also touch upon relations between the EU and Iran. In addition, there will be a scenario-based policy discussion in which the Ministers will debate EU policy options in a fictional crisis scenario.

On Saturday, the EU Foreign Ministers and their counterparts from candidate countries will discuss migration.

Gymnich is a biannual meeting hosted by the rotating Presidency of the Council. The meeting is named after a castle (Schloss Gymnich) in a small town in Germany, where the first similar meeting was held in 1974.
