The President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed matters related to comprehensive security, Russia and the US
At their meeting on Friday 6 April, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy received the Security Committee’s report on the security of society. The annual report noted that several significant incidents occurred in the international security environment in 2017 that increased instability, but that they did not have any actual impact on functions vital to society.
Preparedness at the national level progressed according to plan. Further improvements were deemed necessary especially in the management of cyber security and in the promotion of preparedness in the financial sector.
The President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed the current situation in Russia.
The meeting also discussed US foreign policy and transatlantic cooperation. The relations between Europe and the United States remain central not only from the viewpoint of security but also from the point of view of the economy and trade.
Regarding import tariffs, it is important to find a solution that is compatible with the rules of the international trade system, as not to jeopardise mutual trade.
