Amendments to provisions on smoke-free tobacco products in Tobacco Act
Provisions on smoke-free tobacco products in the Tobacco Act are amended. In accordance with a decision of the European Commission, the prohibitions against sale and import of smoke-free tobacco products are restricted to apply to chewing tobacco, nasal tobacco and tobacco for oral use. There will be no particular prohibitions concerning other smoke-free tobacco products.
Regulation is reduced regarding the national supervision programme for the Tobacco Act: the amended Act will not lay down any obligatory content for the programme. This corresponds to the amendment recently made to the Health Protection Act. Some other amendments will also be made to the Tobacco Act but they are mainly technical.
