Minister of Social Affairs and Health Pirkko Mattila will attend a meeting of OECD Health Ministers and a High-Level Policy Forum in Paris on 16–17 January. The ministers will discuss the sustainability and reforming of health systems. The theme is closely linked with the Finnish health and social services reform. Minister Mattila will address the meeting several times.

In the Health Minister’s meeting, Mattila will talk about the integration of health and social services as part of the health and social services reform. She will also explain Finland’s views on the future priorities of the OECD Health Committee and describe how the roles of healthcare professionals are being revised in Finland.

Minister Mattila will also address a panel of Health Ministers on the future of health services.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental organisation that produces information to help policy-making in the member countries. It is interested in following the progress of the Finnish health and social services reform and its implementation.

In recent years OECD has become increasingly interested in several matters falling under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. These have included health expenditure trends, quality of care, accessibility and effectiveness of health services, mental health services, health promotion, alcohol and drug related harm, and health inequalities.
