Minister Lintilä participates in Team Finland visit to Norway to promote battery and electrification cooperation
The Nordic countries aim to strengthen their cooperation in the battery sector. The visit by the Minister of Economic Affairs and the business delegation to Norway promotes business and innovation cooperation between Finnish and Norwegian companies in the battery, electrification and port technology sectors.
Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä will travel to Norway as part of a Team Finland export promotion visit on 14–15 June 2022. Norway is an important partner for Finland in advancing the green transition of industry.
“Norway is an international leader in battery technologies and the electrification of maritime transport. We can learn from Norway in this regard. However, Finnish companies also have a lot of expertise, which is in demand in Norway. For example, our skills in the electrification of heavy machinery, shipping and ports offer opportunities to Finnish companies,” Minister of Economic Affairs Lintilä says.
Nordic cooperation important in battery sector
A great deal of investments are made in the battery sector in the EU now, and the Union wants to be more self-sufficient in energy and raw materials. Finland aims to be a global and responsible leader in the battery and electrification cluster by 2025.
Nordic cooperation will help the entire region to attract more investments in the battery sector. Finland, Norway and Sweden are already engaged in close cooperation in the battery sector, but there is a desire to further develop this cooperation.
Lintilä to meet Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry Vestre
Minister Lintilä and Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre will discuss Nordic green value chains and cooperation between Finland and Norway in batteries and electrification of transport.
Lintilä will also speak at EVS35, an international conference on electric vehicles, and meet representatives of the Norwegian battery technology company FREYR and the Port of Gothenburg.
The Business Finland’s delegation of Finnish companies includes: 3mar Oy, Aalto University, BaseN Corporation, Beneq Oy, Comsel System Ltd, Fortum Waste Solutions, InterControl Oy, Kempower, Norrhydro Oy, Oy Merinova Ab, Rauma Marine Constructions Oy, Spinverse Oy, Valmet Automotive and Yrityssalo.
