Minister Tuppurainen and Portuguese Secretary of State for European Affairs Antunes to meet in Helsinki

Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen and Portuguese Secretary of State for European Affairs Tiago Antunes will meet in Helsinki on Thursday 2 February. Topics on the agenda for their meeting include security issues and preparations for the February Special European Council.

In their meeting, they will discuss the agenda for the Special European Council taking place in Brussels on 9 February, which will focus on the economic situation and competitiveness of the EU and on measures to manage migration. Other topics will include support for Ukraine in defending itself against Russia’s war of aggression, energy security, EU enlargement negotiations and the rule of law.

While in Helsinki, Secretary of State Antunes will also visit the Helsinki Central Library Oodi, the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats and the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, among others.

Minister Tuppurainen and Secretary of State Antunes are colleagues on the EU General Affairs Council, which prepares the European Council meetings and is responsible for several key policy areas, including EU enlargement and issues related to the rule of law.
