The Government has issued decrees on rehabilitation for disabled veterans’ spouses and widows and for war widows and on the front-line allowance for foreign volunteer front-line soldiers in 2024.

Rehabilitation for disabled veterans’ spouses and widows and for war widows to continue unchanged

The duration of residential rehabilitation for disabled veterans’ spouses and widows and for war widows is the maximum of two weeks and the duration of an intensive outpatient rehabilitation period is the maximum of 15 days. Outpatient rehabilitation may consist of a series of a maximum of 15 sessions, and the maximum price of such series is EUR 1,050 per rehabilitee. The maximum price of outpatient rehabilitation provided at home will remain at EUR 1,575 per rehabilitee.

It is estimated that the maximum number of rehabilitees will be approximately 1,100 people in 2024. The State Treasury will select the persons to be granted rehabilitation based on their applications.

Amount of front-line allowance for foreign volunteer front-line soldiers to remain unchanged

The amount of the front-line allowance granted to foreigners as a lump sum will remain at EUR 200. The front-line allowance intended for foreign volunteers can be granted to foreign front-line soldiers who served as volunteers in Finnish wars and who live in Estonia or elsewhere in the territory of the former Soviet Union under difficult financial circumstances or in Finland.

The State Treasury estimates that the front-line allowance will be paid to about four people in 2024. The allowance is granted by the State Treasury.

The decrees will be in force from 1 January to 31 December 2024.
