Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will visit The Hague in the Netherlands on 8 October 2024 as part of Team Finland’s trade mission focusing on the maritime industry.

A seminar at the Embassy of Finland will discuss the opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the maritime industry. In addition to the Minister of Economic Affairs, the speakers at the event include Dutch authorities and the representatives of maritime companies.

Minister Rydman and the business delegation will also visit the shipbuilding company Royal IHC in the port of Rotterdam. One of the largest players in the Dutch maritime industry, Royal IHC focuses on four main segments: offshore vessels, dredgers, naval ships and mining ships.

“Companies in the Dutch and Finnish maritime industries are well prepared to intensify cooperation and to succeed. Finland is a world leader in smart solutions, emissions-free technology and Arctic maritime knowledge. The objective is to improve the competitiveness of the European marine industry and to make its supply chains more independent. This goal provides good opportunities for cooperation between the Finnish and Dutch maritime industry operators,” says Minister of Economic Affairs Rydman.

For quite a while, the Netherlands has been one of Business Finland’s target countries for marine industry in Europe, with efforts focusing on creating and maintaining key networks of authorities, end customers, organisations and research institutes in the sector in the long term.

The companies taking part in the Team Finland visit are Allstars Engineering Group, Adwatec, Koja, Marioff Corporation, Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries PIA, Promeco Group, Siili Solutions, Wärtsilä and Uwira.
