The Chiefs of Defence Staffs from Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark gathered in Copenhagen on September 17-18, 2024, to discuss current security issues.
The Nordic Chiefs of Defence Staffs regularly convene. At this year's meeting, they discussed comprehensive influence and security issues that unite the Nordic countries. The focus was on strengthening collective defence as part of NATO.
Finland was represented at the meeting by Chief of Defence Command, lieutenant General Vesa Virtanen, Sweden by Lieutenant General Michael Claesson, and Norway by Lieutenant General Ingrid Gjerde. The host of the event was the Chief of Defence Staffs Denmark, Lieutenant General Kenneth Pedersen.
