Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen: Finland to host NATO Deployable CIS Module

NATO approved Finland’s proposal to host a Deployable CIS Module.

“I am very pleased that the Allies have again given their strong support to our objective in NATO.  A Deployable CIS Module will strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence throughout the High North,” says Finland’s Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen. 

The Deployable CIS Module (DCM) will provide communication and information system (CIS) services in support of NATO forces and commands in Finland and, if necessary, across the Alliance.

The DCM is part of the NATO Command Structure. Its establishment, implementation and maintenance are eligible for NATO’s common funding. The DCM will have around 60 employees, and the posts will be filled by Finnish personnel.

“Finland has a great deal of expertise in command and control systems. Besides serving the interests of the Alliance, a DCM located in Finland will provide an opportunity to develop the compatibility of Finnish and NATO command and control services,” Minister Häkkänen says. 

NATO’s Deployable CIS Modules (DCMs) operate under the NATO Communications and Information Systems Group (NCISG).
