Minister of Defence Häkkänen to attend ministerial meeting of Nordic Defence Cooperation in Trondheim

Finland’s Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen will attend a defence ministers’ meeting of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) in Trondheim, Norway, on 5–6 May 2024.

The ministers will discuss the progress of Nordic defence cooperation in, for example, prepositioning, military mobility and logistics. They will also exchange views on cooperation between the Nordic Air Forces and the plans to raise the production capacity of ammunition. Other items on the agenda include topical NATO matters and current regional security issues.

“We are promoting stronger Nordic defence in many areas. By improving our strategic and operational interoperability, we can better achieve seamless cooperation to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence,” Minister of Defence Häkkänen said.

Norway is chairing NORDEFCO this year, and the meeting will be hosted by Norway’s Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik.
