The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Hannu Ripatti to serve as Head of Mission at Finland’s Embassy in Islamabad from 1 October 2022. Ripatti is currently Roving Ambassador for South Asia.

Ripatti has previously worked in the Unit for the Middle East of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2019–2022, as Ambassador in Kabul in 2017–2019, and as Senior Adviser in Bogotá in 2013–2017. His experience of work in the Diplomatic Service includes posts in Madrid, Beijing, Lagos, Copenhagen and Mexico City. Ripatti joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1987. He holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences.

 

Non-resident Ambassadors

The President of the Republic appointed Ambassador Matti Anttonen, Head of Mission at the Embassy in Paris, to serve as a non-resident Ambassador to Monaco, Ambassador Tanja Jääskeläinen, Head of Mission at the Embassy in Tokyo, to serve as a non-resident Ambassador to the Marshall Islands and Palau, and Ambassador Anu-Eerika Viljanen, Head of Mission at the Embassy in Riyadh to serve as a non-resident Ambassador to Oman.

The President of the Republic authorised Ambassador Theresa Zitting, Head of Mission at the Embassy in Dar es Salaam, to represent Finland in the East African Community (EAC), Ambassador Pekka Kaihilahti, Head of Mission at the Embassy in Jakarta, to represent Finland in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and Ambassador Saana Halinen, Head of Mission at the Embassy in Lusaka, to represent Finland in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
