Deputy President of South Africa Kgalema Motlanthe to Finland
The Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Kgalema Motlanthe, will visit Finland on 18 and 19 October and have a meeting with Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen on Wednesday 19 October. Deputy President Motlanthe and Prime Minister Katainen will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, key issues of Europe and Africa and their cooperation. Because of South Africa's significant international role (member of the G20, a BRICS country, member of the UN Security Council), emphasis will also be given to the global economic situation and related action as well as key questions relating to international peace and security.
During his visit, Deputy President Motlanthe will also meet Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja and President Martti Ahtisaari. He will also learn about Finnish industry.
