EU foreign ministers will meet to discuss Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. The ministers will also discuss EU–China relations.

“Russia’s latest attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine show its lack of genuine commitment to peace. The EU must therefore continue and increase its political, economic, military and humanitarian support to Ukraine. At the same time, the EU will consistently tighten sanctions against Russia as long as the war of aggression continues,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.

The foreign ministers will also discuss the situation in the Middle East.

“We must break the cycle of escalation. The EU should use its influence to promote diplomatic solutions,” says Minister Valtonen. “It is also important to ensure access to humanitarian aid in Gaza and promote measures to end the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.”

The ministers will also have an informal exchange with their Armenian counterpart. In addition, a meeting of the EU–Egypt Association Council will be held in connection with the Foreign Affairs Council.
