Finland’s Prime Minister Orpo attended Ukraine meeting hosted by France

President of the Republic Alexander Stubb and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo participated remotely in a Ukraine meeting on Wednesday 19 February. French President Emmanuel Macron convened the high-level meeting to discuss Ukraine and European security.
“Strong support for Ukraine has been Finland’s guiding principle throughout Russia’s war of aggression. Europe must build its own united voice and message for the talks. Like Finland, the EU must continue its strong support for Ukraine, and Europe must rapidly strengthen its own defence in different ways,” said Prime Minister Orpo.
Most of the countries invited to the meeting took part via video conference. Besides Finland, several other EU Member States took part in the meeting.
France hosted a similar meeting on Monday 17 February, where Denmark represented the Nordic countries and the Baltic States. The other participants in Monday’s meeting were the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland and the leaders of the EU and NATO.
